This Web site is laid
out for easy navigation by kids ages 8 and above. We suggest
that Parents/Teachers assist the children to make the Survive
Alive learning experience productive and fun for the kids.
The Learn
How to Survive Alive"
section is filled with activities for the kids to do, like reading
our safety checklist, coloring pages, safety
quizzes, and exploring other
important safety links.
Take a virtual
tour of the Survive Alive
Village using your Web browser. The Survive Alive Village is
designed to teach fire and life safety education. With the use
of state-of-the-art simulated fire, the children learn life
saving techniques helping them to escape the perils of a fire.
Using downloadable browser plugins, a child can enter each room
of the Village and turn around in that room to view it in a
full 360-degree panoramic view. Along with the room's view,
lessons on each room's page teach a child important safety information
associated with that room of the house in the tour. We have
even included an active "voice message" on each room's
page for the very young children that can't read yet. Keep in
mind that much of this interactive web media requires some extended
download times. Please be patient and discuss safety issues
with the children as the Web pages are downloaded. One idea
is to cruise the site the night before the lessons are to be
given. This will allow the pages to be kept in your browser's
"cache" directory resulting in the media being brought
to the kid's view almost immediately from the "cache"
directory instead of through the network or phone lines.
The Fire and Safety Information
Page lists
important organizations in your area. Phone numbers are given
for fast reference. Don't forget that this page can be printed
and used as a hand out for the children.
Our most popular area
of the site is the KID'S
CLUB. It is a private area
that anyone can join. A form is filled out by each student (or
the parent/guardian/teacher) and then admittance is allowed.
No information left in this form will be sold or given away.
It is for use by Allstate in compiling demographics for safety
information to be sent to the chosen school districts or teachers/parents.
Games, extra coloring pages, CLUB email, and important safety
issues are updated in the Club area. Active tests/quizzes
will be listed for the children to learn as they play along
with "instant ranking" so that the child can see how
well they have done.
